What did Donald Trump do today?
He worried a lot about being assassinated.
Trump insisted today that he was "number one on the list" of people Iran's government wanted to kill. Israeli intelligence claims they uncovered just such a plot recently—but those claims are very likely an attempt to influence Trump to back the Netanyahu regime's more aggressive approach.
Trump, who ordered the assassination of most of the Iranian regime's previous leaders, called them "scum" for allegedly contemplating his assassination.
It's not just foreign threats that have Trump worried, though. In addition to the bunker-like "military top-secret ballroom" he still insists he must have, Trump proposed today to cordon off virtually all remaining public views of the White House behind high fences. Those fences would encircle Lafayette Square, long a notable site for both tourists and protestors.
Why does this matter?
- It's a little late once you've decided to ignore why the United States stopped targeting world leaders for assassination to worry about the consequences of your actions.
