What did Donald Trump do today?
He tried to pin blame for Jan. 6 on the "BIDEN FBI."
Thirty-eight minutes after midnight, Trump posted this to his private microblogging website:
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump was the President of the United States. At that point, he had been the President for the last four years. He had appointed the entire senior leadership of the FBI. Joe Biden had not yet ever been President at that point.
FBI personnel did respond to the attack on Congress's certification of the 2020 election, as did many other law federal and local enforcement agencies, because it was a violent attack on the seat of the American government.
It's not clear who Trump is telling to "DO SOMETHING!!!" but he has, very recently, accidentally posted things publicly that he intended as direct messages to administration officials.
Why does this matter?
- The most likely explanation for this is that Trump was not, at the moment he posted it, capable of remembering that Joe Biden had never been president as of January 6, 2021.
- The only other explanation is that he thinks his supporters are too stupid to remember that.
